We recently received the following
information on the results of the C.R.O.P.
Walk which was held in November 2012.
“Thank you to the 50 walkers who participated
in 2012 Carlsbad C.R.O.P. Hunger Walk held in
November. Several churches participated
in this hunger event in our community:
First Presbyterian Church, First
Christian
Church,
St.
Edward Catholic Church, St. Peter
Evangelical Lutheran Church, Epworth United Methodist Church, First United
Methodist Church, and the Carlsbad Mennonite Church. We raised $4,991.00 and Thrivent for
Lutherans contributed an additional $800.00 due to the community effort. The total for 2012 Community Response for Overcoming
Poverty was $5,791.00. This is sponsored by Church World Services, which involves about 30 national churches
and synagogues. There are about 2,000
walks across the nation throughout the year, with proceeds going to those in
need in the United States as well as around the world. Twenty-five percent of the proceeds was given
to the Carlsbad Community Kitchen, which amounted to $1,447.75. Thanks for your generosity!! Hope to see you in 2013!
