about us

We believe:
God is the Creator of all and as such, loves all. Our call in Christ Jesus is to love as Jesus loves!
All are welcome at First Christian Church just as Christ has called and welcomed all.

Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Everyone comes to God through him!
We believe in Christ’s loving and graceful blessing to all humanity as the means to salvation, but the terms are solely Christs, and not the church’s to determine. We recognize Christ as the gate, but no doctrine has exclusive claim to God’s salvation. As followers of Christ, it is our call to simply live, love, and forgive as Christ has modeled and revealed in Scripture.

Christ helps us achieve success in life by his presence in us.
We cannot live positive, fruitful lives on our own strength, so Christ transforms our lives from within by the Holy Spirit at work in us.

The Bible is the inspired Word of God, and as a whole, is the basis for all we believe.
Scripture is the foundation that informs and guides our faith, belief, and practice. It is a living document of God’s grace that is to be taken seriously, but not literally.

Our church takes seriously the "priesthood of all believers."
All Christians have direct access to God and are free to prayerfully discern the Bible for themselves.

The Lord's Supper (Holy Communion) focuses our worship on the saving act of Jesus on the cross.
The central act of our worship is communion, a weekly remembrance of the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross to free us from our sin. In recognition that God loves all, the table of God’s love is not restricted to anyone. All humanity is welcome to dine at God’s table by virtue of God’s love for all humanity.

The equality of people before God.
No person should be barred from serving Christ's church because of race, gender, class, sexual orientation, economic status, education, political affiliation, or any other form of human distinction.

Ministry is lived in community, not simply within Sunday Worship.
God calls and sends the faithful into the community to be the hands and feet of Christ through dedicated, active, and passionate service to care for the least of these, the orphan and widow, the one without a voice, the outcast and sojourner, and all who long for God’s loving grace.
